Abstract: In late 2012, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services issued its final rules on the implementation of ICD-10 and extended the implementation deadline to Oct. 1, 2014. ICD-10 marks a major change in charge and procedure coding for all providers, including physician practices. This article explains what’s involved and what practices will need to do to prepare.
