Abstract: After several postponements, the updated lease accounting standard is about to take effect for private companies. Companies that follow U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) must adopt the new standard for fiscal years beginning after December 15, 2021, and interim periods within fiscal years beginning after December 15, 2022.
