Medicare payments and reimbursement rates are linked to patient satisfaction scores, specifically via the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) scoring system. This article points out that while nothing can be done about predetermined HCAHPS survey questions, medical professionals do have some control over patient surveys.
